Docusate sodium 50 mg
Indications:
Doculax is used to prevent and treat chronic constipation in patients with haemorrhoids and (or) anal fissure, in patients for whom an effort in passing a stool is not advised due to their health.
Action:
Docusate sodium is a superficially active compound. It has emulsifying effect and reduces surface tension at the point where epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract and faecal masses meet.
That facilitates absorption of water and fat inside the faecal masses in the large intestine, which changes stool consistency and facilitates defecation.
Docusate sodium does not stimulate intestinal peristalsis.
